Election 2026

The next municipal election is scheduled for October 28, 2026.

Municipal and Northern Relations has prepared resources to support municipalities, election officials and candidates throughout the election process.  These resources include the 2026 Election Official's Manual, the Chief Administrative Officer's Campaign Finance Manual, and the Candidates Guidebook.  These resources, frequently asked questions, and more information, are now available online at: https://www.gov.mb.ca/mr/mfas/election.html

Resident Voters:  In order to be eligible to vote in an election, a person must be:

  • a Canadian citizen
  • at least 18 years of age on election day; and
  • a resident of the municipality for at least six months on election day

Non-Resident Voters: For municipal elections only (excludes school division elections), non-resident landowners are eligible to vote in an election.  In order to be eligible, the person must be:

  • a Canadian citizen
  • at least 18 years of age on election day; and
  • a registered landowner of land in the municipality for at least six months on election day.

A maximum of two non-resident voters per property are permitted to vote in a municipal election.
